Welcome, I’m Nadia Valentin, DNP, PMHNP-BC

Emmanuel Psychiatry

I’m Dr. Nadia Valentin, I'm a woman who's been where you are now. I've faced the pain of pregnancy loss, birth trauma, being shut down by the medical system and the silent suffering that follows when we feel we have to bear it all alone. I've lived the isolation of struggling with my mental health in a culture where such topics were taboo. And I've come out the other side with a fire in my heart to create the safe haven I wished for during my darkest times.

Welcome to Emmanuel Psychiatry, a soul-centered Virtual Practice where your story is honored as sacred.

My Story

Like you, my healing journey has been paved with challenges and revelations, dead ends and breakthroughs. It was during my years as a Family Nurse Practitioner, caring for patients in the intimacy of their homes, that I discovered the most profound medicine of all: presence. Holding space, without distractions or judgment, taught me that true transformation begins the moment someone feels genuinely seen and heard.

That's the gift I aim to give every woman who enters my office - the gift of being listened to, deeply and completely, perhaps for the first time.

I chose psychiatry because I’ve lived the reality of needing help and finding it unavailable or taboo. Growing up in a culture where mental health was not openly discussed, I saw too many people—myself included—suffer in silence. That silence eventually became my calling. I chose integrative psychiatry because I believe there is more than one path to healing. Every patient is a whole person, not a list of symptoms, and their physical, emotional, and spiritual wellness are inseparable.

My own story has deeply shaped the way I practice. After experiencing the loss of a pregnancy, a near-fatal birth trauma, and the emotional aftermath that followed, I came to understand how invisible mental health needs can be, even in medical settings. I struggled quietly for years, and through that experience I learned how critical it is for someone—anyone—to truly listen. I am tired of the silence and the stigma, and I want my patients to know they don’t have to carry their pain alone.

In my sessions, I am fully present. Patients often tell me they feel truly seen and heard, sometimes for the first time. My approach blends evidence-based psychiatry with lifestyle medicine, hormonal and nutritional evaluation, mindfulness, and nervous system regulation. Whether addressing perinatal mood disorders, anxiety, depression, or the profound transitions of perimenopause and menopause, I focus on the root causes of distress while empowering women to reconnect with their strength, their bodies, and their hope.

Outside of my work, I’m grounded by my faith, my family, and simple moments of connection, sharing dinner at the table with my loved ones, phone turned off, laughter filling the room. I’m an island girl at heart, raised in Haiti, where community and perseverance are second nature. My friends would tell you I have a big heart, a calm spirit, and that I’m an incredible cook who loves to feed the people I care about. Those same qualities shape how I show up for my patients with warmth, empathy, and an unwavering belief that healing is possible.

Above all, I am a wife, a mother, a daughter, a sister, a friend, and a child of God. My faith reminds me daily that none of us are defined by our struggles, and that each of us carries the innate capacity to heal. My role as your provider is simply to walk beside you on that journey, to listen, to guide, and to remind you that you matter.
